Users

Platform

Mobile app, serving 4M+ workers

The 60-second version

What happened here, if you only have a minute

The problem: applying for frontline jobs assumed comfort with forms, documents, and desktop patterns that first-generation smartphone users don't have. Every dropped application was a worker who didn't get hired.

My role: product designer for the revamped BetterJobs app, job discovery, application, document upload, and status tracking, all on mobile.

Decision 01

Apply in minutes, not forms, jobs near you, one-tap apply.

Decision 02

Document capture built for reality, scan an ID with the phone camera, face-match verification, no scanner required.

Decision 03

Status you can trust, workers always know where their application stands.

~100K
users of the previous app adopted the redesigned experience
First-gen
smartphone users, designed for low literacy, low-end devices, patchy connectivity
End-to-end
discovery → application → verification → status, in one mobile flow
